Do you have a closet full of clothes but somehow feel like you have nothing to wear?
Welcome to the club! 😂
I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one who forgets about perfectly good clothes hiding in the back of the closet. Or maybe you have a few favorite outfits you love so much that you wear them over and over again while the rest of your wardrobe collects dust.
Well, I found an app that might help with that problem, and it’s called Alta.

Think Cher’s computerized closet in Clueless, but with AI! Now we’re talking!
What Is Alta?
Alta is an AI-powered digital closet app that helps you organize your wardrobe virtually. The idea is simple: get your clothing into the app, and you can see what you own, put outfits together, and make better use of the clothes you already have.
I already use another closet app that I like, but Alta has some features that really caught my attention.
Instead of simply cataloging your clothing, Alta uses AI to regenerate images of your items and put them into your digital closet. You can even dress an avatar and experiment with different looks.
It’s like having a little virtual dressing room right on your phone!
I’m Already Up to 644 Items!
Yes, you read that correctly. I currently have 644 items in my Alta closet, and I haven’t even gotten through everything I own!
That tells you something about how much clothing can be hiding in your wardrobe. Some things I wear regularly, some I haven’t thought about in ages, and others I completely forgot I had.
Having everything organized in one place makes it much easier to see what I own and come up with new combinations.
And let’s be honest: sometimes we don’t need to buy more clothes. We just need to remember the clothes we already have!
My Favorite Alta Features
1. Your Own Digital Closet
You can add pictures of your clothing and let the app create digital versions of your items.
Once your wardrobe is in the app, you have a visual catalog of what you own. No more trying to remember whether you have a particular blouse, jacket, or pair of pants hiding somewhere.
2. Create Outfits With an Avatar
Want to see how different pieces might work together? You can use an avatar to experiment with outfits.
I love the idea of playing around with different combinations without having to pull half my closet off the hangers and try everything on.
3. Plan Looks for Special Events
Have a dinner reservation, party, vacation, or another special occasion coming up?
You can organize looks around events and plan what you want to wear ahead of time. That means less last-minute closet chaos!
4. Search Your Closet by Color
This is such a helpful feature!
If I’m looking for a particular color, I can search my digital wardrobe instead of rummaging through everything I own.
It can also help me discover pieces I might not have considered pairing together.
5. Try Outfits Virtually Before Buying
Another useful feature is the ability to experiment with outfits virtually before purchasing something new.
This can help you think about how a potential purchase might work with your existing wardrobe rather than buying something that ends up sitting unworn in your closet.
6. Get More Wear Out of Your Clothes
This is probably the biggest benefit for me.
When I can see what I own, I’m more likely to rediscover forgotten pieces and create different outfits with them. It also gives me a better idea of what I actually need before I shop.
That’s a win for both my wardrobe and my wallet!
Is Alta Perfect? Not Quite!
Let’s keep it real. The AI can be a little janky sometimes. 😂
Every once in a while, an item doesn’t come out quite right, and I have to use the prettify feature more than once to get a result I’m happy with.
It’s not always perfect on the first try, so you’ll need a little patience.
And getting all your clothing into the app is definitely a project. If you have a large wardrobe like I do, you’re not going to finish it in five minutes!
My solution? I’m doing a little bit each day instead of trying to tackle everything at once.
Here’s another tip: if you already take pictures of your new clothing purchases, adding those items can be much easier. You may already have pictures ready to go!
Is Alta Free?
One of the biggest reasons I’m recommending Alta is that it’s free to use, according to my experience with the app.
I love finding useful apps that don’t require me to add another subscription to my monthly expenses. Just keep in mind that app features and pricing can change, so check the current terms in the app before getting started.
And yes, there’s one thing to consider: you need to be comfortable with AI processing images of your wardrobe. Personally, I’m good with that.
My Verdict: Is Alta Worth Trying?
For me, absolutely!
I love the idea of having my wardrobe organized digitally, seeing what I own, planning outfits, and getting more use out of clothing I’ve already purchased.
The AI isn’t flawless, and building your digital closet takes time. But if you’re willing to work on it gradually, I think Alta is a fun and practical tool to try.
This is not a paid promotion. I wasn’t paid to write this review, and I’m not sharing it as sponsored content. It’s simply an app I’ve been enjoying and wanted to tell you about.
If you’ve ever stood in front of a packed closet and announced, “I have nothing to wear!” this might be worth a look.
Now I want to know: Do you forget what you have in your closet, or are you someone who wears the same favorite pieces on repeat?
Let me know in the comments!
Until next time, stay stylish!
